200 International Caps for Rippon

MELISSA RIPPON REACHES 200TH-MATCH MILESTONE BECOMING ONE OF THE MOST CAPPED FEMALE PLAYERS IN HISTORY

(May 28|10) Our Barracudas Women's National League captain, Melissa Rippon (pictured left) has reached a major milestone in her career earning her 200th cap in international play. She joins a rare group of elite women to achieve such a milestone while competing at the second leg of the FINA Asia-Oceania World League in Tianjin, China.

Mel has represented Australia internationally since 2000 and now has put in over a decade of world-class service consistently being one of Australia's top players and earning herself two Olympic Games berths culminating in captaining the 2008 Australian side to Olympic Bronze in Beijing. Mel captained Australia to World Cup victory in 2006 and World Champs silver in 2007. She has been named to a number of international all-star teams making her one ot the finest elite senior female players in the World. Her never-quit attitude and desire to always improve and challenge herself sets her apart from so many of her peers. She is a fantastic role model and ambassador for our sport and has helped mentor so many of our young Barracudas players along the way. She was recently voted AWPI Female Player of the Year for 2008 at the recent AWPI Awards Presentation.

The Barracudas are very proud of Mel and her achievement. She moved up to Brisbane in 2002 and joined our Club and has been a driving force behind the success of the Barracudas Senior women's program. The Club congratulates Mel on her 200th cap and hopes she keeps aiming for 300!
