Club Information

The University of Queensland Water Polo Club, formely known as Brisbane Barracudas Water Polo club which started back in 1963 as the Tugun Water Polo Club, is Queensland’s longest running water polo club (Read more about our amazing history). Since that time, the club has been Queenland’s Premier Water Polo Club winning more National and State Titles and Local Premierships than any other Club in the State and developing more Australian and State Representative players. The former Brisbane Barracudas lead the way nationally being the first Queensland team to win both a men’s and women’s National League title and are one of only three elite clubs nationally to have done so.

UQWPC continue to be at the forefront of Junior development and have recently launched a one of it’s kind catering to the ongoing development of players. UQWPC is unique in Queensland being the only club to offer athletes a clear player pathway from the beginner to the elite representative levels. The Club fields teams in every level of competition from Under 12’s through to elite Australian Water Polo League teams.

Moreover, the UQWPC has a very unique and tangible culture – one of fun, collaboration and good sportsmanship. Many of our Club’s members have been part of the club for generations and we actively seek and encourage a sense of community and love for the game.
