JUNIOR AWARD WINNERS AND SEASON BREAK UP
(March 31| 10) The Barracudas Club is proud to name its 2009-10 Junior Award winners. Teams and their award winners were honoured at the 2009-10 Junior Awards Presentation this last Sunday at Musgrave Pool with a spit roast dinner. Over 200 people attended, a great turnout, and a fun evening. A big thank you to Jeni Greenbank and her crew of helpers who organised the evening as well as Vince Hudson who provided photography of a number of teams. Rhys Howden receievd the inaugural Barracudas Fastest 50m Freestyle award for his 23.96 performance and U16 Boys Coach Jeff George was honoured by his team as he will be heading back to the US in September after making a huge contribution to the club. The Club also bids farewell to another American Dave Miller who was the boys Coaches Coordinator this year - Dave was relocated to Melbourne for work and the Club wishes the best to both of our dynamic and energetic American friends. Congrats to all teams and their award winners listed below. What a fantastic season - we hope all come back for another funfilled 2010-11 Season. Registration for next season will open around early September so check the website regularly. Many thanks to all of our coaches who give up so much time and energy and are integral in the on-going success of the club. Well done to all. Dont forget U16 State Champs coming up as well as the conclusion of National League - plenty of water polo still on over the colder months.

BWPI: BARRACUDAS SWEEP U18 PREMIERSHIPS AND TAKE U16 BOYS
SENIORS X MEN, B MEN AND WOMEN, A MEN AND WOMEN PREMIERS
(March 29| 10) Barracudas U18 Boys and Girls swept the Premierships in the age division yesterday capping off an incredible season for the club in this age group where both teams are now State and Local Champions. The U18A Barras girls team (Pictured left) finished the season remarkably undefeated in every single game and convincingly won the Grand Final 12-3 over All Hallows in a very physical encounter that saw Barras players bloodied, black eyed and with torn togs. In her last Junior game, Captain Kate McAfee had the game of her life leading the team in attack and defence notching 4 goals. Also playing their final Junior games, Ash Southern, Laura David, Kim Cochrane and Liv King all put in stellar performances. The Barras U18 Boys faced off against Polo Bears and trailed for the better part of the game until a late surge through strong work from Stewart Greenbank, Ben Edwards and Nick Godfrey pulled them ahead by 2 with just under a minute remaining. Polo Bears responded with a last ditch goal to come within one, but the Barras boys hung on to win 6-5. The U16 Barras boys also finished the entire season undefeated and took the grand final over Polo Bears 8-5 (team pictured above). Coaches Jeff George and Paul Heffernan were thrilled about the important win and now focus their energies on the upcoming U16 State Champs. Barracudas U13 and U14 Boys were runners up in their matches and put in heartfelt performances narrowly going down to Polo Bears and Warriors respectively.
In the Senior Grand Finals the Barracudas won every Grand Final they were in. The reigning X Grade men's Champs the Barracudas X2 took out the Grand Final over the Hammers comfortably while the B Grade women edged Stuartholme in a low scoring encounter 3-1. The B Grade men downed RiverCity in a close match 7-6 and the A Grade Men took four quarters to down the experienced Warriors outfit 9-8 to make it four from four Grand Finals on the day.
Congrats to all players who were part of the 2009-10 Season and those teams who made the Semis and won Premierships. Big thank yous to all the coaches, managers and supporters. Well done to all and hope to see everyone back again for next season of water polo.
