UQWPC Hall of Fame

The University of Queensland Water Polo Club (formerly Brisbane Barracudas and Tugun Water Polo Inc.) has over its 50+ years amassed some amazing accolades and achievements. The following individuals and teams are recognised by the Club in the Club Hall of Fame:

HALL OF FAME (launched in 2013 at the club’s 50th celebration)

  • Tony West – inducted in 2013 (First Queenslander to represent Australia in water polo)
  • Brisbane Barracudas Men’s National League Team 2004 – inducted in 2013 (First Queensland team to win a senior national title)
  • Brisbane Barracudas Women’s National League Team 2011 – inducted in 2013 (First Queensland women’s team to win 3 consecutive national titles)
  • Tugun Old Boys 1992 – inducted in 2013 (Won the World Masters Championships)
  • Melissa Rippon – inducted in 2016 (Three-time Olympian – Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012, Double Olympic Bronze medallist – Beijing and London, 2008 Australian Olympic Captain, 2006 World Cup Champion (captain), 2007 FINA World Championship silver medallist (captain), 1999 FINA Junior World Champion, 1997 & 2001 FINA Junior World Champ silver medallist, Multiple FINA World League medals, Three time NWPL Champion (2009, 2010, 2011), Barracudas NWPL Women’s Captain 2006-2012)
  • Kate Gynther – inducted in 2016 (Three-time Olympian – Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012, Double Olympic Bronze medallist – Beijing and London, 2012 Australian Olympic Captain,  2006 World Cup Champion, 2007 FINA World Championship silver medallist, 2001 FINA Junior World Champs Silver medallist, Multiple FINA World League medals, 2002 Senior National Player of the Series, 2011 NWPL All Star Team, Five time NWPL Champion (2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015), Highest Barracudas NWPL female goal scorer of all time, Most capped Barracudas NWPL female player)
