In parallel with the Brisbane U12 Competition we’re looking to run an U10 Introduction to Waterpolo Program

Simon Daley (founder of AcademyWaterpolo) will introduce the u/10 ‘Play’ Waterpolo Program for the UQ Water Polo Club this coming summer.

Daley has always been an advocate for kids being allowed to ‘just play’ and his vision for this program is allowing kids to form a team of 5 friends and getting their mums/ dads or grandparents to coach them.

“Our sport has an entry age of 12yrs which is way too late, so it’s my mission to get kids playing (emphasis on play) as early as 6yrs.  The other thing is to encourage parents to become coaches, as they all have life skills to share, even if they haven’t played the game before.” said Daley

The ‘Play’ Waterpolo program will be based around games with a massive emphasis on fun and enclusion of every participant.

Many parents intuitively know the importance of play in child development, but despite its many benefits, we rarely associate play with learning.  However, according to studies, playing is learning. Children learn through play experiences. The importance of play in early childhood sport cannot be underestimated because playing is essential to a child’s growth

“I’m super excited to share my passion for waterpolo to the next generation of youngsters as waterpolo is a brilliant game that teaches teamwork and compliments swim strokes ” said Daley.

• U10 Players born 2013 and 2014
• Friday Afternoon Musgrave Park Pool (Updated from Sunday)
• 4:30 till 5:30pm
• Term 4 2022 - 14th Oct to 25th Nov 2022 (Dates Updated)

Cost for 7 Weeks is $100 or Casual is $15 per session.  No payment required up front, come along and try and if it is not for you the trial session is free.
