Water Polo Queensland - A Grade Competition Structure

Published Sat 11 Sep 2021

The introduction of the 2020 Water Polo Queensland Premier League, saw a long-required pathway for semi-elite and elite athletes to compete. The League provided an opportunity for athletes to compete in a competition that offered a pathway into the Queensland Thunder (AWL competition) and also the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS).

The Southeast Queensland A-Grade Competition, as part of the BWPI summer competitions, will offer a second-tier competition for those aspiring to compete in the Premier League. It will also provide participating Clubs/Associations the opportunity to develop potential talent for the Premier League. In the future, it is likely that the A-Grade Competition will see the formation of a promotion and relegation format, which will see Premier League and A-Grade teams vying to remain in the Premier Competition within Queensland.
