Welcome Back - Season 25-26

Published Sat 19 Jul 2025

Dear UQ Water Polo Families,

Welcome back! We’re thrilled to kick off another exciting season at UQ Water Polo Club and can’t wait to see everyone back on the pool deck.

Pre-season training starts next week! The schedule is attached, so grab your togs, shake off those winter cobwebs, and get ready for a fantastic season ahead. The Brisbane Metro Junior Competition kicks off on 11 October, with team trials beginning 25 September—so make sure you’re back in the pool and ready to make a splash!

We’re also assembling U12 teams for the U12 Festival on the Gold Coast, held on  Sunday 24th August 2025. What better way to start the season than a weekend of water polo and fun by the beach? If you’re keen to join, please email our Registrar at registrar@uqwaterpolo.com.au. Be quick—registrations close 19 July!

That’s not all—UQ is heading to Sydney for the NSW State Championships in early December! While exact age group dates are still to be confirmed, this tournament will be a key part of our lead-up to both the WPQ State Titles and the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships.

Here’s what’s locked in:

WPQ State Titles (Brisbane)

• U14 & U18: starts 12 January 2025
• U12 & U16: starts 17 January 2025

Australian Youth Water Polo Championships (Brisbane)

• U14 & U18: starts 8 April 2025
• U12 & U16: starts 14 April 2025

It’s a big season for our Senior players too! WPQ will again run the Premier League and Premier League Reserve Grade, and UQ is also planning to send teams to the NSW Super League. This provides valuable opportunities for our elite players to gain high-level competition and increased visibility on the national stage.

With so many comps on the calendar, it’s shaping up to be a huge season packed with action, teamwork, and unforgettable moments—and we’re pumped to see what our UQ squads will achieve!

So dust off those togs, pack your gear, and we’ll see you at training!

Go UQ!
